Kohima, 13 February (MTNews): In a recent development, the Nagaland Cabinet has taken a significant decision regarding the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the regulations concerning border movement. Following a detailed briefing by the Principal Secretary (Home), the cabinet on February 8 deliberated on the matter.

During the meeting, it was decided that the Nagaland Cabinet would formally request the Central Government to continue the Free Movement Regime (FMR). Additionally, the Cabinet emphasized the importance of enacting appropriate regulations and establishing clear processes for the movement of people across the borders.

Crucially, the Cabinet stressed the necessity of close consultation with the inhabitants of the border areas in formulating these regulations. Furthermore, it advocated for the involvement of village council authorities in the entire system of regulations, ensuring local perspectives are considered.
