Kohima, 24 August (MTNews): Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam, IAS, introduced two noteworthy online statistical data collection applications developed by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland. The launch event occurred on Tuesday at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall in Kohima.
The first application is the Village Level Development Indicators (VLDI), a web-based GIS-enabled platform created for comprehensive statistical data analytics and monitoring. It facilitates the collection and analysis of major basic amenity indices for villages across RD Blocks and Districts in Nagaland. The VLDI application offers insights into the status of crucial development indicators at the village level. This data plays a pivotal role for planners and decision-makers in the state, aiding in identifying gaps and efficiently allocating resources, in line with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The second application, named the Estimation of Price Index (PI), is also web-based and comprehensive. It functions as a statistical tool for collecting, estimating, systematically analyzing, and tracking the relative movement of retail and wholesale prices of essential commodities and building materials. The Price Index encompasses both urban and rural areas, offering a comprehensive perspective. This system enables inflation tracking by comparing price relatives across different time intervals and geographical locations within Nagaland.
These advanced applications signify a significant stride in data collection and analysis, facilitating well-informed decision-making in the state. They contribute to more effective governance and policy formulation.
