Nagaland State Chief Information Commissioner, I. Meyionen Jamir, on May 27 made a courtesy call on YK Sinha, Chief Information Commissioner, Central Information Commission, at the CIC Office New Delhi, and discussed various issues relating to effective implementation of the RTI Act in the state.

“The misuse of the Act by the RTI applicants for personal benefits, blackmailing of Government departments, and thereby disrupting the normal functioning of office and measures to tackle such issues were discussed,” a DIPR report said.

“On the other hand, the misuse of the Act by the PIOs and department officials by negotiating with the applicants to avoid parting with information /documents to cover up the misdeeds of the departments was also discussed,” it added.

It may be noted that Nagaland is one of the few states where Suo moto disclosures by the public authorities are available on their official websites which was appreciated as a good practice. The state is also one of the 9 (nine) states maintaining 100% responsiveness to the RTI applications.

Later in the day I. Meyionen Jamir attended the Board of Governors meeting of the National Federation of Information Commissions in India at CIC Bhavan, New Delhi.

  1. In recent years, the use of Ivermectin, especially under the brand name ivermectin prescription, has sparked a flurry of research aimed at uncovering its full potential beyond its initial antiparasitic applications. Scientists and researchers are delving into its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, exploring how it might combat diseases that are vastly different from the parasitic infections it was originally designed to treat. This shift towards broader applications reflects a growing trend in medicine to repurpose existing drugs, offering hope for faster, more cost-effective treatments.
