Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today criticized the ruling government, for not focusing on socio-economic factors and problems faced by people but is instead only focused on political issues. During a press conference held at Congress Bhavan, led by AICC Secretary in charge of Nagaland Christopher Tilak, along with MP, Lok Sabha and President of NPCC, S Supongmeren Jamir and other party leaders, the party said, they have completed the first phase of their tour to six districts.
Tilak observed that people of Nagaland have been focusing too much on political issues, while socio-economic aspects, have not received much attention.
“Widespread unemployment, migration, lack of basic infrastructure and poor road connectivity were major concerns in the districts we visited,” he said.
Tilak claimed that many rural areas in Nagaland suffer from lack of essential services such as education, healthcare and transportation.
Roads, in particular, were identified as a major issue, he said, adding that bad roads act as a barrier to progress, limiting access to essential services in both urban and rural areas.
“This, in turn, exacerbates socio-economic disparities, particularly for the marginalised communities who remain cut off from opportunities in the state capital,” he said.
He said that people are bearing the brunt of these socio-economic challenges, and the absence of a comprehensive plan to address these issues has compounded the situation.
Tilak pointed out that in India, 65 percent of the population is below 40 years old, making it a young nation, and claimed that government does not have clear vision for youth empowerment.
