Mokokchung, 30 November (MTNews): As Nagaland gears up to celebrate its Statehood Day on December 1, the Public Grievances Department, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (PGD NPCC) has issued a scathing press statement bringing attention to the “multiple cases of flagrant irregularities and fraudulent activities in the working of state-sponsored infrastructure development projects” in Alongtaki Assembly Constituency, which they had flagged and brought to public notice through earlier press statements.
According to the PGD NPCC, at a time when the whole state is preparing to honor the memory of Dr lmkongliba Ao, the Founder Architect of the State, the constituency which is home to Dr Imkongliba Ao is facing the unfortunate reality of constituents being “cheated out of their rights in such a brazen manner.”
“The fact that it is also the home constituency of Temjen lmna Along, serving Honorable Minister and previous President of the BJP Nagaland Unit, says precious much about the true nature of PM Modi’s much-touted “Amrit Kaal Model of Development,” the PGD NPCC stated.
The NPCC asserted that the data collected by them through RTI strongly suggested that crores of public money for several projects had been withdrawn with no evidence of proportionate work implemented on the ground.
“Despite our repeated prior interventions seeking accountability from the govt and the promoters of the projects, we are yet to receive any,” stated the PGD NPCC adding that they consider the government’s stoic silence in the face of such damning allegations as an “admission of guilt.”
Expressing vehement condemnation of the abuse of power by the State Government, the PGD NPCC demanded an immediate explanation to rectify the situation. In the absence of such intervention, it threatened to escalate its fight for the rights of the affected constituency.
“We also call out to all right thinking citizens of Alongtaki Assembly Constituency, irrespective of their political affiliations, to come forward and join us in this cause. The interests of the public are paramount in our book, and we will ensure that we see through to the end of this fight for justice, against any and all odds,” the PGD NPCC added.
