Dimapur, 12 July (MTNews): Along with the rest of the states, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), in solidarity with their leader Rahul Gandhi, organized a one-day Maun Satyagraha (Silent Protest) in front of Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, today. The protest aimed to express strong opposition to the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament and to show unwavering support for his fearless and uncompromising fight.
Congress General Secretary, KC Venugopal, issued a statement on Friday, emphasizing Rahul Gandhi’s role as the strongest and most vocal opponent of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. Venugopal announced that the Congress party intends to approach the Supreme Court after the Gujarat High Court declined to grant a stay on Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a 2019 defamation case concerning his remarks about the Modi surname. He further alleged that the government is employing various techniques to stifle Rahul Gandhi’s voice.
“Undeterred, Gandhi has remained steadfast in his resolve to take on the ruling regime,” Venugopal said, adding that even outside Parliament, “he remains the voice of the people and the leader who people can trust.”
“As a result, not just the Congress, but the entire country is agitated at his wrongful and vindictive disqualification,” he stated.
