The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie has said that the Congress party supports President’s Rule in Nagaland to implement the “agreed political solutions.”
The NPCC president said in a press release on December 30 that, after election, “it will be too expensive for MLAs to resign for President’s Rule to facilitate implementation of agreed solutions.”
It also stated that the question of whether there will be “President’s Rule or Election” has kept the people of Nagaland in suspense.
Citing unnamed sources, the NPCC president also said, “GoI’s representative for Naga political talks was trying to impress the negotiation teams by hinting that GOI is trying to find a way for President’s Rule to implement the agreed political solution(s).”
“GoI is also playing with ENPO without even consulting the State Government; If not, the State Government is hiding from the public. We have also learnt from sources that GoI has hinted for Regional Autonomous Council (RAC) for ENPO,” the NPCC alleged.
“With the announcement of RAC, GoI may notify election blaming Nagas for lack of unity in accepting the solution. The only disunity is while the public want solution, the state Government does not want solution, unless NSCN(IM) also accepts,” he further said.
The NPCC president went on to say that it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister of Nagaland to answer. “He cannot keep his people in suspense. President’s Rule or Election should be the choice of Nagaland. The future of Nagaland cannot be in the hands of GoI. If UDA wants solution, just step down and ask GoI to implement the agreed solutions. If not, tell them in a resolution that we want State elections on time. The decision should be from Nagaland State Assembly,” he stated.
Therie further claimed that the BJP has betrayed Nagaland people for the last 7 years. “We can never trust them. Without knowing clearly the mind of GoI, the MLAs should stop misleading the public,” he said.
