The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) general secretary and district in-charge of Mokokchung, S Moa Emchen, labeled BJP as the “Bharatiya Jumla Party,” defining “Jumla” as lies. He pointed out the party’s track record of allegedly making false promises since 2014 and continuing to do so till date. Emchen dismissed BJP’s claim of winning 400 seats in the 2024 elections as unrealistic and impossible. The Nagaland congress leader said this while addressing the campaign kick-off of Congress candidate for the 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 in Mokokchung today.

Regarding long-standing promises such as crediting Rs 15 lakhs per account, reducing LPG, petrol, and diesel prices, Emchen emphasized that these assurances remain unfulfilled even after a decade and urged the public not to trust BJP’s promises.

Discussing the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) issue, Emchen alleged that the state government, in alliance with BJP, made false promises to the ENPO.

“Nagaland is a small state and they want to send off the ENPO. NDPP and Jumla Party have created this issue, it is not our creation, and they thought that by creating this issue they’ll have the advantage,” said Emchen.

Emchen lauded the recently released Congress manifesto, highlighting its inclusion of Naga-related issues and a promise to resolve them through agreements. Emchen reminded the people of past talks between Naga leaders and BJP representatives, emphasizing the lack of progress despite agreements signed in 2015 and 2017. He stressed the importance of resolving the Naga issue for the progress of the Naga people, expressing confidence that a Congress-led government would prioritize its resolution.
