Dimapur, 19 February (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has vehemently condemned the freezing of official bank accounts belonging to the Indian National Congress (INC) and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) by the Income Tax Department. NPCC President Supongmeren Jamir spearheaded a protest at the Income Tax Office in Dimapur, characterizing the action as a direct assault on democracy.
Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engineering the freeze, Jamir alleged collusion between the Income Tax Department and the ruling party. He asserted that the BJP is employing clandestine tactics to destabilize the financial footing of the Congress Party, particularly targeting the bank accounts of the Indian Youth Congress and Indian National Congress.
With the Lok Sabha election looming on the horizon, Jamir and fellow NPCC members are convinced that the BJP is strategically attempting to hamper the Congress Party’s political operations through financial coercion.
The repercussions of the Income Tax Department’s actions have resonated nationwide, prompting Congress members and supporters across India to mobilize in protest. They perceive the freezing of the party’s bank accounts as a calculated move to suffocate their political activities through economic means.
