The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed strong disappointment over Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s recent statement in Mokokchung regarding the revocation of the regularization order for 147 Assistant Professors, calling it a “joke” and “an insult to those aspirants seeking justice.”

In a statement issued by the party, the NPCC said it was “dismayed by the statement of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio made during his visit to Mokokchung that the revocation order for regularization of 147 Assistant Professors was based on the Interim Report of the High Powered Committee (HPC) and that the final decision would be taken only after the HPC Final Report.”

The Congress accused the Chief Minister of undermining the Cabinet’s authority by deflecting responsibility to the HPC, stating: “If the earlier flip-flop decisions of the Nagaland Cabinet were not enough, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has reduced the Cabinet decision to a joke by taking shelter under a committee constituted by it.”

Calling the move “an added insult to those aspirants seeking justice,” the NPCC also criticized the governance style of the Rio-led administration. “NPCC wishes to remind the Chief Minister that heading an opposition-less govt does not entitle him to keep shifting the goalposts and make a mockery of having a Cabinet meeting without being serious about the decisions taken,” it stated.
