The Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) has reaffirmed its stand on ‘One Government, One Tax’ and urged its members to promptly report any undue taxation or demands to the union’s head office. This resolution was among the key decisions made during an emergency meeting held at the NCSU Head Office Conference Hall, Kohima, on February 26.
The meeting, attended by NCSU office bearers from the head office and district units, along with members from various communities, addressed critical concerns related to the welfare of contractors in Nagaland.
In its unanimous resolutions, the union emphasized that any NCSU bonafide member facing hardship due to taxation or extortion from any quarter should promptly report the issue to the NCSU Head Office for necessary action.
Additionally, the NCSU demanded that any government official or engineer possessing a Class-I contractor registration with the Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) must be disqualified immediately, terming such a practice illegal and punishable under the law.
The union also urged the Government of Nagaland to publish detailed work programs for all state government departments for the financial year 2025-2026.
Furthermore, regarding PMGSY-III projects under the 2023-24 scheme, the NCSU directed all its district units to conduct thorough on-the-spot verifications and submit detailed reports to the NCSU Head Office by March 13, 2025, for further action.
