The three-day Nagaland Cooperative Conclave concluded on 20th November, leaving participants with a renewed vision for the state’s cooperative sector as a driver of inclusive economic growth. The event, held at NBCC Convention Hall, Kohima, focused on youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and strengthening cooperatives across Nagaland.
Speaking at the valedictory session, Commissioner & Secretary, Cooperation and Information & Public Relations, Orenthung Lotha, NCS, highlighted the growing importance of cooperatives in building community resilience and economic opportunities. He said the conclave created a platform for participants to share ideas, experiences, and aspirations, demonstrating how collective action can improve livelihoods, move markets, and contribute to Nagaland’s broader economic future.
Reflecting on the conclave’s theme, ”Cooperatives – A Catalyst for Economic Transformation,” Lotha expressed confidence that partnerships formed during the event would continue to support farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, and youth across the state. He also appreciated the organisers and participants for shaping a shared vision for Nagaland’s cooperative sector.
Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Bokato Hesso, outlined the way forward for the sector, noting that Nagaland’s cooperative movement is at a critical turning point. Hesso stressed the need for stronger coordination, inclusive planning, and long-term strategies, highlighting opportunities in agriculture, allied sectors, climate-resilient farming, and digital agriculture. He also called for better credit access, financial literacy, departmental convergence, and active youth participation to make cooperatives catalysts of sustainable growth.
The conclave also recognised outstanding contributions through the Best Exhibitor Awards:

The third day featured sessions on “Role of Youth in the Cooperative Movement” by Ritesh Dey, NCUI New Delhi, and “Entrepreneurship and Employment through Cooperatives” by Ar. Richard Belho, Zynorique Initiatives. Delegates also discussed a cooperative vision for Nagaland with experts from agriculture and banking sectors, and shared recommendations for strengthening the sector.
