The Nagaland Athletics Association successfully conducted the Nagaland Cross Country Championships 2025 on December 18 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, with Ruovi’s The Palm serving as the venue partner.
The championship featured competitions across multiple categories, including Senior Men and Women, Under 20 Men and Women, Under 18 Men and Women, and Under 16 Boys and Girls. The event provided athletes from across Nagaland an opportunity to demonstrate endurance, discipline and competitive spirit.
The junior category events were flagged off by Abu Metha, Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India, Chairman of IDAN and Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, along with Neingulie Nakhro, Treasurer of the Nagaland Athletics Association. The senior category races were flagged off by Charlie Sekhose, Proprietor of Ruovi’s The Palm, Senior Vice President of the Naga People Front and Chairman, Model Village, Chümoukedima.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Abu Metha, Charlie Sekhose, Ihoto K Shohe, Councillor of the Dimapur Municipal Council, and Shambhudas Bandopadhyay, Observer from the Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics Silver Level Referee.
The championship was organised to identify promising athletes for selection to the 60th National Cross Country Championships 2025.
In the senior men’s 10 km race, Nahtei N Wangnao finished first, followed by Wede Tmero and Kengimlunnghein Keditsu. Tsuchoi T won the women’s 10 km event. Other category winners included Takasanen Longkumer in Under 20 men, Jemie Y in Under 20 women, Temsumoa Jamir in Under 18 men, Chongsop P in Under 18 women, Ramton Aranghom in Under 16 boys and Supei S in Under 16 girls.
