Kohima, 24 December (MTNews): The Government of Nagaland has formed a Departmental Enquiry Committee to investigate allegations regarding the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the State. The decision follows reports in local newspapers raising concerns about irregularities in the project’s execution.

As per a notification issued by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the committee will be chaired by Zarenthung Ezung, Commissioner & Secretary, Cooperation. Other members include Er Gwatilo Tep, Mission Director of SBM(G), Amenla Jamir, Additional Director of Treasuries & Accounts, and Amentoli Anar, Deputy Secretary of PHED, who will serve as Member Secretary.

The committee has been tasked with assessing the status of works implemented under JJM and verifying adherence to the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and mission guidelines from inception to till date. It will cross-check the data reported in the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) with the actual implementation in villages and habitations. Additionally, the committee will review complaints and grievances, if any, and look into whether appropriate actions have been taken to address them, and identify any lapses or shortcomings in the project’s execution while suggesting measures for improvement.
