Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton inaugurated the newly established Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Englan, Wokha, on Thursday, November 27. The program was held at the PHC premises, with Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, IAS, as the guest of honor.

In his address, Patton highlighted persistent challenges such as land acquisition and border demarcation issues, which often delay developmental projects. He urged the District Administration and local police to actively assist in demarcating land already acquired for development around the PHC and the Extra Assistant Commissioner’s office.

The Deputy Chief Minister also called on citizens to exercise civic responsibility and protect public infrastructure, noting that facilities like the PHC are meant for the welfare of the people. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation with health centre staff to ensure quality service delivery, particularly for local residents and farmers.

Patton further entrusted elders and Goanburas of Englan and neighboring villages with the responsibility of safeguarding the PHC infrastructure and ensuring its upkeep.

Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar acknowledged the infrastructural challenges faced by healthcare units across Wokha, noting that while many centres are in deteriorating condition, the people of Englan Range are now fortunate to have access to a well-equipped facility. He stressed that access to basic healthcare is a fundamental right and urged citizens to support the proper functioning of such services.

The inauguration ceremony also featured a welcome address by Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Dr. Thungchanbemo Ezung, and remarks from Chanbemo Odyuo, President of the Englan Range Village Council Union. The event was chaired by Dr Mhajan Kikon, Medical Officer of PHC Englan.

Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton inaugurated a Multipurpose Building at Yikhum Village on Thursday, praising its design and quality as among the finest in Lotha villages. He commended the workmanship and lauded those involved in completing the project.

Patton highlighted the importance of education and human resource development and announced incentives for villagers achieving high civil service standards: Rs. 5 lakh for anyone qualifying the UPSC examination and Rs. 3 lakh each for those clearing the NPSC exam as Extra Assistant Commissioner or Deputy Superintendent of Police. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Yikhum Women Hoho and donated Rs. 25,000 for their welfare.

Patton contributed Rs. 7 lakh towards the building’s construction earlier and reiterated his appreciation for the project team. He also inaugurated the Thillong Students’ Union Office, constructed under LADP 2024–25, and expressed hope that it would inspire unity and confidence among students.
