The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, officially launched the Nagaland Scholarship Nodal Cell (NSNC) on 1st December 2025 at the Directorate of Higher Education in Kohima. The NSNC has been established as the centralized authority responsible for coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and addressing grievances related to all scholarship schemes in the state. This initiative follows a Cabinet decision made on June 12, 2019, and was reaffirmed during a consultative meeting with the Chief Secretary of Nagaland on September 10, 2025.
The Scholarship Nodal Cell will oversee State, Central Sector, and Centrally Sponsored scholarship programs, ensuring streamlined management and improved accessibility for students. The cell comprises nominated officials from all scholarship-implementing departments, with a designated Nodal Officer from the Directorate of Higher Education’s Scholarship Section serving as the in-charge under the Director of Higher Education.
The NSNC’s key responsibilities include effective scholarship program management, timely dissemination of information to students and stakeholders, verification of student eligibility, centralized grievance redressal, and ensuring direct and timely disbursement of funds to beneficiaries.
The launch of the Nagaland Scholarship Nodal Cell represents a significant step toward enhanced interdepartmental coordination and building public trust in scholarship administration.
Positioned as the single point of contact for all scholarship matters, the cell aims to transform Nagaland’s scholarship ecosystem, making it more accessible and student-centric.
As the NSNC begins its work, it embodies the state’s commitment to building a future shaped by informed systems, dedication to excellence, and a strong culture of diligence and service. (With DIPR inputs)
