Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, said today that the department will soon be bringing out a comprehensive Nagaland Education Sports Policy. He made this announcement while interacting with the student toppers and rank holders of HSLC and HSSLC at Raj Bhavan in Kohima. He mentioned that, acknowledging the potential in skill development and the energetic Naga youth, the department is introducing the Nagaland Education Sports Policy, which will integrate and enable students to choose sports as their field. Yhome stated that sports can be a successful career and expressed hope that in 20 years, a Naga will bring home an Olympic medal and make the country proud.

The Advisor further mentioned that the department is in the process of getting concurrence from Higher Education, Youth & Sport Resources, and the Nagaland Olympic Association to finalize the sports policy.
He informed that the department is undergoing a massive overhaul, and one of its major steps is to introduce the Nagaland Education Service, which will allow the department to advertise posts annually so that young people can enter the service.

Yhome added that the department is also in the process of a rationalization exercise to address the shortage of teachers in the state and aims to improve this by introducing the Nagaland Administrative Service. He said the department is currently carrying out a delimitation of its educational areas and hopes this will streamline the administration of both private and government schools.

Advisor Yhome further stated that the department has introduced a pilot phase project for a teacher attendance monitoring system for accountability.
