Two days before the assembly elections, political parties in Nagaland wrapped up their last-ditch efforts to win over voters by promising them development and unbroken peace on Saturday.

Tzütapela (L) and Watiyongpang (R) interstate check gates in Mokokchung have been sealed ahead of the Nagaland elections.

To increase security and ensure a peaceful election, Nagaland’s inter-state borders and international border areas with Myanmar have been sealed from this evening till the evening of Monday, the day of polling.

According to Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Sandeep M Tamgadge, who is also in charge of law and order, the state is coordinating with the neighboring states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur to ensure that the borders are sealed two days before voting so that any outside elements coming inside the state to cause trouble are checked.

According to the ADG, law and order is in place, and although there were concerns about election-related violence in the districts of Mokokchung and Wokha as a result of some reports in recent days, the situation is under control and the voting process should run without a hitch.

To guarantee a smooth election, 305 companies of police and security personnel are on duty.

A total of 13,17,632 electors reside in the state and 2,315 polling stations will be used to conduct the election around the state. There are 680 vulnerable and 940 crucial voting places, according to the most recent statistics.
