Kohima, February 18 (MTNews): The Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, Kohima stated in a press release on Saturday that the voting process for absentee voters has started on 16 February and that it will be completed one day prior to the actual polling day. The absentee voters include senior citizens above 80 years of age and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) flagged in the Electoral Roll and covid-I9 suspect or affected persons. It was informed that the postal ballot paper for absentee voters is the same form and language as the postal ballot paper for the voters on election duty.

For the forthcoming 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election, 2023 scheduled to be held on 27 February, a total of 3228 applications have been received for the category of Senior Citizens and 173 for Persons with Disabilities, it was informed.
Visits of Polling Officials which consists of two polling officials, one micro-observer, one videographer and security personnel have been started on 16 February. The Polling teams are visiting those voters at the address mentioned in the application of Form 12D for facilitating the absentee voters by postal ballot paper.
