Public invited to provide suggestions

The Government of Nagaland has extended the tenure of the Fourth State Finance Commission until 31st March 2026. The Commission has been tasked with reviewing the financial position of both urban and rural local bodies and making recommendations for a five-year period from April 2026 to March 2031.

The Commission’s mandate covers key areas including: the principles for revenue distribution between the State and local bodies, the determination of taxes and fees that may be assigned to local bodies, grants-in-aid from the State’s Consolidated Fund, and measures to strengthen the financial position of local governments.

In formulating its recommendations, the Commission will also consider balancing receipts and expenditures between the State and local bodies, optimizing resources, and generating surplus for capital investment, while taking into account the needs and revenue-raising potential of local bodies.

To ensure public participation, the Commission has invited suggestions and views from citizens, institutions, and organizations. Submissions can be made by post to the Member Secretary at the Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts, Kohima, or via email to fourthfincom2024@gmail.com.
