Nagaland farmer sets Guinness World Record for tallest coriander plant

A coriander plant grown by Yilobemo Erui from Wokha village in Nagaland has officially been recognized as the world’s tallest by the Guinness World Records. Measuring an impressive 2.77 meters (9 feet 1.06 inches), the plant was measured and certified on April 25, 2024.


Yilobemo, who is passionate about agriculture, said that the record-breaking plant was grown entirely without the use of fertilizers, showcasing the organic farming practices he employs. The farmer expressed his gratitude for the collective effort that contributed to this achievement, noting that the recognition has brought pride not only to his village but also to the entire district and state.

“Yilobemo is driven by a passion for agriculture and a desire to showcase the rich agricultural heritage of the Lotha tribe. His aim in breaking a record is to bring attention to the potential of their farming practices and the quality of produce that they can cultivate, including his coriander plant which is now officially the tallest in the world,” the Guinness World Records stated.
