More than 70,000 registered unemployed job seekers in Nagaland were highlighted at the Kohima Job Fair 2026 on June 6, underscoring the State’s continuing employment challenge even as efforts to connect youth with job opportunities intensified.
Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav, inaugurating the job fair at Don Bosco College, Kohima, said addressing unemployment requires collective effort from government agencies, educational institutions, industries and social organisations to create sustainable livelihood pathways for young people.
The Governor noted that as of February 2026, the State had 70,469 registered unemployed job seekers, calling for stronger collaboration between stakeholders to bridge the gap between education and employment.
The job fair was organised by Don Bosco College, Kohima, and AIDA–Don Bosco Career Guidance and Job Placement Services, Dimapur, in collaboration with the National Career Service Centre for SC/ST, Kohima, the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Dimapur, and the Regional Employment Exchange, Kohima.
The event saw participation from over 25 companies across various sectors and more than 500 job seekers, which the Governor said reflected both the aspirations of the youth and the willingness of employers to engage with emerging talent.
He also highlighted the role of the Don Bosco Job Placement Network, noting that it became the first NGO in India enrolled on the National Career Service Portal as a placement network under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The network, he said, has facilitated employment opportunities for over 40,000 young people nationwide over the past seven years through training, guidance and placements.
Commending the participating organisations and recruiters, the Governor said their involvement reflected confidence in the capabilities of Nagaland’s youth and contributed to broader economic development.
Encouraging job seekers, he urged them to remain confident, embrace learning opportunities and prepare for new challenges, stating that employment brings dignity, self-reliance and hope.
The Governor also congratulated the organisers, partners and volunteers for the successful conduct of the job fair and wished participants success in their career pursuits.
