The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) on Saturday outlined a broad reform and expansion agenda covering governance compliance, grassroots development, women’s football, futsal growth and league restructuring at its Special General Body Meeting attended by representatives of 14 District Football Associations.

Chairing the meeting at the NFA Office Conference Hall, Merhulietsa Colony, NFA president K Neibou Sekhose directed all affiliated district associations to strictly comply with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Constitution, signalling upcoming administrative and regulatory changes within the association.
Sekhose placed before the General Body detailed reports on the Nagaland Super League (NSL), the 24th Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Championship, the National Futsal Championship, and the Dr T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier-2), which he noted was the first national football tournament hosted by Nagaland.
In a key sporting development, the NFA president announced the selection of two players from state champions Aphuyemi FC for the National Futsal Team camp, underlining the state’s growing presence at the national level.
The General Body deliberated extensively on grassroots football development, with emphasis on structured training for junior teams, upgrading coaching standards, improving refereeing quality, and ensuring efficient implementation of CRS/CMS across districts. Special focus was placed on the development of junior girls’ and women’s football, which the association identified as a priority area.
The meeting also discussed plans to launch the second edition of the Nagaland Super League in early 2026, indicating continuity and expansion of the state’s premier football competition.
In another significant decision, Sekhose announced that the NFA will introduce the NFA Awards from next year to formally recognise individuals and organisations contributing to football development in Nagaland. The General Body further approved the constitution of multiple working committees to strengthen administrative efficiency.
District Football Association presidents and representatives participated in an interactive session, offering inputs and suggestions on district-level challenges and opportunities, according to an update received here.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by NFA joint secretary L Shahoto Yimchunger. The occasion also marked the inauguration of the NFA office and the appointment of key office functionaries, adding institutional significance to the meeting, it said.
