Nagaland: Government College Principals’ Annual Conference 2026 held in Kohima

The Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland organised a one-day Government College Principals’ Annual Conference on April 28, bringing together principals from 17 government colleges across the state.

Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along, senior officials, and principals of 17 government colleges during the Government College Principals’ Annual Conference organised by the Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland, at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, on April 29.

The conference, held at Hotel Japfu, served as a platform for reflection, collaboration, and collective vision-building for the advancement of higher education in Nagaland.

The programme was graced by Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Government of Nagaland, as the guest of honour. Also present were Sarita Yadav, IAS, Secretary, Higher and Technical Education; V. Lovitoly Sema, NCS, Additional Secretary, HTE and Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education; Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary, HTE and SPD, RUSA/PM-USHA; principals of the 17 government colleges; and departmental officials.

During the conference, the minister officially launched the Higher Education Attendance & Record Tracking (HEART) App, aimed at strengthening institutional management and monitoring. The HEART App includes faculty attendance through facial biometric and geo-tagging features, facilitates communication with colleges, monitors institutions, and maintains student enrolment data for project monitoring systems.

The minister also released the “Quality Enhancement Report 2024–2025,” highlighting the department’s commitment to improving academic standards and institutional development in government colleges.

Departmental Meritorious Awards were presented to four faculty members and three ministerial staff in recognition of their outstanding contributions to institutional performance.

Earlier, the conference was chaired by Vetanule Demo, OSD, Higher Education, while Dr. Vitsosie Vupru, Principal of Kohima College, invoked God’s blessings. Rokono P. Keyho, Joint Director, Higher Education, proposed the vote of thanks.
