Dimapur, 11 July (MTNews): The Nagaland government is committed to promoting sports and providing opportunities for young people to excel in sports. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio made the statement while inaugurating the 1st Summer Badminton Coaching Camp at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on Tuesday.
Rio said that the government is youth-centric and that it wants to provide opportunities for young people to participate in sports. He said that the government is working to improve the sporting infrastructure in all the districts of the state.
Rio assured that the government would sponsor 10 children/players who would be selected from the 1st Summer Badminton Coaching Camp. Rio said that he hopes that the coaching camp will help to identify and nurture young badminton talent in the state.
Inaugurating the camp, Rio extended special appreciation to Prakash Padukone, Founder of Padukone Sports Mgt. Pvt Ltd Bengaluru “who is here to partner with us and help us grow.”
“I put on record that Nagaland has made appreciable investments in the field of badminton. I hope that with this venture, Nagaland will be able to produce international champions with the help of the legend who has an illustrious career and who keeps producing champions,” Rio said.
The coaching camp is being organised by Abeio Kire and Angam Shaiza in collaboration with Padukone Sports Management Pvt Limited, Bengaluru. The new badminton stadium where the camp is undergoing has also been named as the Prakash Padukone Gallery, Nagaland in honour of the badminton legend.
Padukone, who was the special guest for the event, acknowledged the organizers for hosting the first summer badminton coaching camp.
