In a show of dissent against the State Government’s IAS induction process, several government employees’ associations in Nagaland have announced a symbolic protest starting September 25. The protest involves members wearing black ribbons or badges to express their “bitter resentment” over the government’s decision to conduct the screening of Non-SCS officers without reinstating the earlier Advertisement Circular dated March 10, 2025.
The circular, jointly issued by the Core Committee and Action Committee of the All Nagaland State Service Employees’ Association, highlighted that the move comes despite multiple representations to the government on the matter. Members have been instructed to wear the black ribbons or badges compulsorily during the first phase of the protest, which will be confined to offices within Kohima.
The Core Committee comprises Dr. Ndangkie Ndang (Secretary), Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao (President, CANSSEA), Amenla Jamir (President, NF&ASA), and Chubasangla Longkumer (President, NSSA). The Action Committee includes Yhunsenlo Keht (Convenor), Er Fineson Pojar (President, FONSESA), and Dr Thomas Keppen (President, NIDA).
The associations clarified that the protest is a peaceful, symbolic demonstration against the government’s “circumvention of merit” and the creation of recruitment pathways for IAS induction that, according to them, lack legal validity. Unaffiliated associations and offices are invited to participate voluntarily in solidarity.
Members have been reminded to maintain official discipline, follow workplace protocol, and ensure attendance, with no disruption to office functioning. The committees have stated that further steps in the protest will be communicated in due course.
