The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has issued a notification based on directives received from the Home Department of the Government of Nagaland, regarding stringent actions against individuals involved in hoax calls or bomb threat incidents at airports under the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982.

The DC’s notification stated that the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued several guidelines and orders to address bomb threats and messages, as these incidents cause grave concerns leading to serious inconvenience for passengers, airlines, and security agencies. Additionally, the notification referred to Section 39(a) of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982.

This section stipulates that “whoever, at any airport, unlawfully and intentionally using any device, substance or weapon, commits an act of violence which is likely to cause grievous hurt or death of any person; destroys or seriously damages any aircraft or facility at the airport or disrupts any service at the airport, endangering or threatening to endanger safety at the airport shall also be punishable with imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to fine. Whoever attempts to commit or abets the commission of any offence under these sections shall also be deemed to have committed such offence and shall be punished with the punishment provided for such offences.”
