Kohima, 4 April (MTNews): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday welcomed the G20 delegates who arrived for the Business Meet (B20) to be held in Kohima.
The State Government organized a cultural program to welcome and honour the G20 delegates at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima.
Speaking at the program, Rio stated that Nagas who were known as war warriors in the past have now become peace warriors with the advent of Christianity in the land.
Rio also mentioned that the State lacks in infrastructure yet it has been endowed with pleasant weather. The Nagas live with mother nature since 80% of its land is covered by forest, he added.
Nagaland is a tribal state comprising many different tribes spreading not only to our neighboring states but also beyond the Country, Rio said. The Chief Minister said that Nagas are rich in culture and traditions and the State still practices customary laws under the provision of Article 371(A) enshrined under the Constitution of India.
Rio appreciated the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for extending their help to the State in hosting the G20 meet. He also thanked the delegates for visiting the State and hoped that they have a fruitful and memorable stay in Nagaland.
The Chief Minister also released the Summit Booklet on the occasion entitled ‘Nagaland – An Emerging Investment Destination.’ The booklet published by the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) explains the investment opportunities in Nagaland.
The guests were enthralled with music and dances including a variety of traditional songs and dances showcasing the vibrant culture of the Nagas.
On 5 April, a conference on Opportunities for Multilateral Business Partnerships in Agriculture & Food Processing, Tourism & IT will take place at State Banquet Hall, Kohima from 9:00 AM onwards.
Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio will deliver the keynote address.
The conference will also be addressed by representatives from other countries—Alejandro Simancas, Ambassador (Cuba), Gudni Bragason, Ambassador (Iceland), Jason Keats Mathew Hall, High Commissioner (Jamaica), Yasiel Burillo, Ambassador and Consul General (Panama), Fleming Raul Duarte, Ambassador (Paraguay) and Manfred Auster, Consul General (Germany).
