Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Monday appealed to citizens to actively participate in the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027, describing the exercise as crucial for future planning and development.

Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav participates in the self-enumeration process for Census 2027 at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on June 16.

The Governor made the appeal after participating in the self-enumeration process at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on June 16.

Noting that Nagaland has joined the rest of the country in undertaking Census 2027 under the theme “My Census, My Development,” Yadav said citizens can enumerate their households online during the self-enumeration period from June 16 to 30, marking the first time such a facility has been made available.

He said Census 2027 is being conducted in a fully digital mode, making the exercise more efficient, inclusive and accessible.

The Governor stated that the Census would generate vital data for development planning and help ensure that government schemes and services reach all sections of society. He said the information collected would support policy decisions in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare.

Yadav also acknowledged the services of more than 6,100 Census officials deployed across Nagaland and urged them to discharge their duties with sincerity, professionalism and integrity.

Calling for collective participation, he appealed to tribal hohos, community organisations, village councils, colony authorities and elders to extend their support to ensure the success of the exercise.

“The Census is not merely a count of people; it is a foundation for future planning and development,” the Governor said, urging citizens to cooperate fully with Census officials and ensure that every household and individual is counted.
