The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, chaired a review meeting of the Tribal Affairs Department at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on July 9 to assess the department’s ongoing programmes, achievements and future plans.

During the meeting, the department made a comprehensive presentation on its functioning, major schemes, infrastructure projects and their implementation status across the state.

Officials presented details of budget allocations, progress under Article 275(1), the Development Action Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY), and the implementation of various community infrastructure projects benefiting tribal areas. The Governor reviewed the status of both completed and ongoing projects.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in the state. Officials informed that three EMRSs are currently functional with a total enrolment of 751 students, and all three schools recorded a 100 percent pass rate in the HSLC Examination 2026. The Governor was also apprised of the progress of new EMRS campuses across various districts and the challenges affecting their timely completion, including land related issues, power and water connectivity, and approach roads.
