The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, made his official visit to Longleng district on 18 October 2024. A brief program was held with the district administration, Heads of Departments (HoDs) of various departments, and civil society organizations at the DPDB Hall in Longleng.

In his address to the gathering, the Governor expressed his pleasure in visiting the district and highlighted crucial aspects of development being accelerated in the state. He stated that the government is committed to creating an environment that fosters growth, prosperity, and well-being for every citizen. His speech focused on several vital issues, including health, water, sanitation, roads, and banking, which he emphasized required immediate attention and unified action.

The Governor stressed that health is of paramount importance, noting that a healthy population is the cornerstone of a thriving community. He urged stakeholders to improve healthcare facilities in the district. Clean water and sanitation, he noted, are fundamental rights, and he called upon the concerned department to implement schemes such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide safe drinking water to every household. He also mentioned that transportation is crucial for development and that banking services are vital for economic empowerment.

In conclusion, the Governor encouraged citizens to abide by the law and work collaboratively with both the central and state governments.

The Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, who chaired the program, delivered the welcome address, presented a brief overview of the district, and highlighted some proposals for the district’s development. Representatives from the Department of Education, Public Works Department (R&B), SBI Longleng branch, Medical Department, and PHED provided reports on their respective activities. A short speech was also delivered by the President of the Phom People’s Council.

The program concluded with closing remarks by the Deputy Commissioner.
