The Nagaland Home Department (Political) has declared the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) [NSCN (K)] and all its factions, wings and front organisations as an “Unlawful Association” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The declaration follows Notification No. S.O. 4241(E) dated September 22, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and published in the Gazette of India. The State Government’s order is also in line with the ruling of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal dated October 29, 2025, and a notice issued the same day by the Office of the Registrar of the Tribunal.

According to the Home Department, the organisation and all related bodies now fall under Section 3(1) of the UAPA, which empowers the government to designate groups involved in unlawful activities as prohibited associations.
