Kohima, March 3 (MTNews): The Government of Nagaland has slightly modified the procedure for filling up Group D or Grade IV posts stipulated in two earlier office memoranda following difficulties expressed by various departments regarding its implementation.

The office memoranda dated October 2, 2017 and March 24, 2018 had laid down procedure of filling up Grade IV posts in the Government. The March 24 memorandum has also stipulated that applications for recruitment to the Grade IV posts should be called through open advertisement.

Following difficulties expressed by various departments on account of the fact that in many cases, Group-D posts such as chowkidars, malis and peons, are filled by landowners or on compassionate ground and locally at the district, sub-division or village level, the matter was considered by the State Cabinet in its February 9 and February 22 meetings.

“In order to remove such difficulties, it is hereby directed that the condition of advertisement is dispensed with wherever such difficulties are faced by a Department, as long as a fair and transparent eligibility criteria and process is followed and in all such cases approval of the Government is obtained,” the government memo said.

“All requirements as laid down by Government with regard to compassionate appointment, appointment of landowners as well as reservations for Backward Tribes and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) shall be adhered to while following the instructions contained in this OM,” it added.
