Tuophema, December 2 (MTNews): Governor of Nagaland & Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Friday visited Tuophema village and had an interaction program at the Village Council Hall, Tuophema village.

 

 

 

Prof. Mukhi while interacting with them remarked Nagaland as the ‘Land of warriors’ and stated that he has high regards for the Nagas for resisting and giving a tough fight to the Britishers and admired how cultural activities, dances, songs, dramas are in the blood of Nagas as was observed on the inaugural day of Hornbill Festival.

 

“The cultural troupes presented cultural extravaganza that attracts people throughout the country and from abroad; though a small state in the country, Nagaland is a very important state for the country,” he stated.

 

The governor also viewed that government jobs is “almost exhausted now” and therefore urged the youths specially the literate youth to venture and expedite in the field of agriculture as their profession.

 

“Having agriculture at their own land with the latest technologies with the help of the government will boost up the economy of the state,” he said.

 

He also mentioned that farmers should be issued land cards so that they can be guided at what type of crops should be sowed in their soil. He also assured that the government is committed to provide seeds, manure for the dedicated farmers, or pesticides if essential.

 

He also assured that the government will take into account for market linkage, transportation and modern facilities. He further stated that the government shall ensure the crops are being insured in the PM scheme to get the full return of their produce and that farmers should get proper value for the produce.

 

Concluding his interaction, Prof. Mukhi reminded that Nagas are expecting a lasting peace agreement and expressed confidence that a final agreement, one that is fair to most of us and meets the expectations and aspirations, will be reached soon.
