The Department of Health and Family Welfare has informed that it has reviewed issues related to licensing of health centres, hospitals and clinics, and has taken serious note of several establishments not adhering to the norms under the Nagaland Health Care Establishment Authority Act, 1997.
The department has directed all health centres, hospitals and clinics in the state to strictly comply with the following directives in the interest of public safety and citizen welfare.
All establishments have been directed to apply for renewal of licences six months prior to the date of expiry. They have also been instructed to obtain a valid licence before commencing operations.
The department further stated that it has come to the notice of the authority that some pharmacies are engaging doctors for consultation. It clarified that engaging a doctor constitutes operating a clinic, and such pharmacies must obtain a licence under Clause 9 of the Act.
The department reiterated that strict compliance with licensing norms is mandatory for all healthcare establishments in the state.
