The event was officiated by Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary of Higher & Technical Education, Nagaland, in the presence of Directorate officials and the respective college principals. Pongen expressed optimism that the colleges concerned will make the best use of such transportation facilities.

Director of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, Dr A Nshoga, disclosed that the procurement of the five college buses was made possible through the initiative of the Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along. He expressed gratitude to the minister for his concern towards the department’s goodwill mission. Out of the 19 college buses proposed to the government, the department received 5 this year, Dr Nshoga noted, expressing thanks to the state government for facilitating this allocation.

Transportation remains one of the most significant challenges in the higher education department, Dr Nshoga said, underscoring its crucial role in promoting higher education in Nagaland. Given that most colleges are situated in remote areas, he stressed the necessity of college buses. In response to this need, Dr Nshoga stated that the department has been making concerted efforts to provide buses to colleges across the state.

Meanwhile, the Director expressed hope that the state government will address the matter and extend coverage to the remaining colleges in a phased manner.
