A two-day State Level Review Meeting-cum-Orientation on RMNCHA+N (Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health + Nutrition) was organized from 25 June 2025 at the IDSP Hall, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW), under the chairmanship of Dr Avile Zao, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland.
Addressing the DPOs – RCH/UIP (District Program Officers – Reproductive Child Health/Immunisation), DPMs (District Program Managers), and Block Program Managers present, Dr Avile stated that being in these positions brings significant challenges in carrying forward the goals of the NHM at the district level. She urged the participants to put in more effort to improve the health indicators that are still lagging despite their hard work.
She noted that the review meeting provided “a good opportunity to reflect on our performance of the previous years and plan for the coming months and years.” Dr. Avile also stated that due to the consistent efforts of the teams, “our State’s IMR (Infant Mortality Rate) remains one of the lowest in the country, which stands at 7 as per SRS 2022,” and expressed hope for improvement in other key indicators in the coming years.
Welcoming the district representatives, Dr Khelito Zhimomi, State Program Officer, RMNCHA+N, encouraged them to “take this opportunity for cross-learning between the districts, especially on the best practices.”
Presentations were made on each district’s achievements and current status, and discussions were held on challenges, opportunities, and the way forward.
Participants were also oriented on various key components of RMNCHA+N, including: Management of high-risk pregnancies; Anaemia control; SUMAN (Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan); LaQshya (Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative); MusQan (Child-friendly hospitals); MPCDSR (Maternal and Perinatal Child Death Surveillance and Response); Family Planning; and Key components under Child Health, etc.
