The Directorate of Industries & Commerce conducted a one-day workshop for the officers of the department on the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) on January 29, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Directorate.
The India Industrial Land Bank (IILB), developed by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), is a GIS-enabled centralized platform that serves as a comprehensive repository of information about industrial areas and clusters across India. Its primary goal is to streamline industrial development, enhance transparency, foster ease of doing business, and support balanced industrial growth by showcasing investment opportunities in different regions of the country.
Director of Industries & Commerce, P Tokugha Sema, emphasized that the success of the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) depends on the effective implementation of policies and efficient execution on the ground. He highlighted that the IILB is a crucial component of the department’s efforts to foster a favorable environment for industrial development and urged officers to work diligently to achieve the desired outcomes. Sema also expressed his gratitude to the officials of the GIS & Remote Sensing Centre for their technical support in the IILB initiative.
Deputy Director Mhonbeni K Nsarangbe, in her introductory remarks, highlighted that the state lacks proper land bank data to be uploaded onto the portal. She encouraged all participants to actively engage in the IILB initiative, emphasizing the importance of contributing to a more data-driven and innovative approach to industrial development in the state.
General Manager of Chozoba, Heinangwang, provided an overview presentation on the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) and the activities carried out as part of the Land Bank initiative.
Data Manager from the GIS & Remote Sensing Centre, Sanen Jamir, delivered a brief presentation on GIS Mapping. He also noted that the Department of Industries & Commerce is likely the first department to distribute GPS machines to district officials and expressed confidence that the results would be favorable. Surveyor Assistant Moatemsu presented a PowerPoint on the operation of the GPS machine, followed by a hands-on demonstration of GPS machine usage in land surveys.
The Director also distributed GPS machines to all the General Managers of the District Industries Centres. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Joint Director K Hekavi Francis.
