Nagaland invests Rs 18 crore in VVIP housing under Special Assistance Scheme

Minister for PWD & Housing and Mechanical Engineering, Bashangmongba Chang, inaugurated three newly constructed VVIP residential quarters for legislators at Thizama, Kohima, under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme.

The project, with a total cost of Rs 18 crore, received administrative approval on July 12, 2023, and the work orders were issued on September 20, 2023, to three firms—M/s Yangdip Sangtam, M/s Guolhoulie Rio, and M/s JK Construction. The quarters include a main residential building, guest dormitory-cum-garage, security barracks, and ancillary facilities.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Chang described the occasion as a “milestone in Nagaland’s infrastructure development,” appreciating the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his commitment to modernizing housing facilities. He also acknowledged the contractors and workforce for maintaining high construction standards while ensuring timely project completion.

The Minister reaffirmed the Housing Department’s commitment to improving residential and office infrastructure across the state, urging collective responsibility in maintaining and utilizing the facilities effectively.
