The Nagaland government on Wednesday launched the Nagaland LabourChowk mobile application, a digital platform aimed at connecting construction workers with employers and providing access to employment, welfare and skill development services.
Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, launched the application at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, Kohima.
The initiative of the Department of Labour, through the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, seeks to modernise and streamline employment services for Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) in the State.
The Digital LabourChowk is intended to transform the traditional labour chowk system into a more digitally enabled platform, allowing workers to access employment opportunities, welfare schemes and skill development services, while enabling employers to connect with registered workers.
The platform also seeks to strengthen transparency and improve service delivery within the BOCW ecosystem by facilitating worker registration, job search and labour engagement through digital means.
The application is available for download on the Google Play Store. Construction workers can search for “Nagaland LabourChowk” on the Play Store, download the application and register themselves to access employment opportunities and other services available through the platform.
Workers and employers can also access the LabourChowk online portal at labourchowk.nagaland. gov.in to register, log in and avail the services available through the platform.
The initiative is expected to benefit construction workers across Nagaland by improving access to employment opportunities, welfare benefits and other support services through a single digital platform.
