Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio on Thursday formally launched the Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM) at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex in Kohima. The mission aims to equip the state’s youth with industry-aligned skills and promote sustainable employment and entrepreneurship, responding to the demands of a fast-changing job market.

Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister, Kesonyu Yhome (IAS), who chaired the launch, said NSEDM aims to empower and employ 5,000 youth across the state market-relevant skills through focused training, strategic placement, and entrepreneurial development.
Calling it a ‘milestone’ in the government’s efforts, Dr Rio said NSEDM seeks to bridge the crucial gap between education, training, and employment. He stressed on the importance of self-reliance and the dignity of labor, urging young Nagas to embrace change, adapt to India’s expanding economy, and equip themselves with market-relevant skills.
“The NSEDM digital portal would provide easy and affordable access to skill training and job opportunities, especially through the effective implementation of schemes like the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI),” said Dr Rio.
Chief Secretary Dr J Alam, IAS, highlighted that the launch was more than ceremonial — it signified the government’s commitment to empowering the youth through skill development and employment opportunities, as outlined in the Chief Minister’s Budget Speech for 2025-2026. Dr Alam noted the allocation of Rs 35 crore in subsidies under CMMFI, which has already benefited around 1,600 entrepreneurs.
The key objectives of NSEDM includes: Training youth in industry-aligned, market-driven skills; Ensuring 60% to 80% employment or entrepreneurship outcomes; Reducing dependency on academic degrees by promoting hands-on expertise; and supporting self-employment through initiatives like the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI), skill loans, and incubation support.
The mission also targets skill-building in sectors such as construction and skilled trades, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, IT, and the digital economy. It also focuses on entrepreneurship, micro-enterprises, and green and creative industries.
So far, NSEDM has partnered with three training organizations — Eagle Crest, Pinnacle Skills, and AISECT (All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology) — through Memorandums of Understanding. Online registration for training programs will begin on June 9, 2025, via the official portal: nsedm.nagaland.gov.in.
Hello folks! I was actually reading through some old email newsletters I never unsubscribed from and saw one with zodiac stuff. Out of curiosity, I clicked a link that eventually led me to psychics horoscope. I liked that it wasn’t trying to tell me how to live my life but gave just enough for me to reflect. It’s part of my coffee ritual now—read the day’s forecast, take a sip, and think about what’s ahead. It doesn’t solve anything, but it gets me in the right headspace.
