Nagaland likely to receive rain, thunderstorms from August 22 to 25

Monsoon conditions are expected to remain active over Nagaland from August 22 to 25, with light to moderate rainfall likely at a few to scattered places across the State, according to the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).

The district-wise weather outlook indicates that several districts may experience localized thunderstorms and lightning during the period.

On August 22, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Dimapur, Longleng and Mokokchung. Thunderstorms with light rain are also expected in Chümoukedima, Kohima, Peren and Tseminyu, while light rain is likely in several other districts.

On August 23, scattered light to moderate rain is expected over Longleng and Tuensang, with thunderstorms and lightning likely over Kohima, Tseminyu and other areas.

On August 24, thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are likely over Longleng, Mon, Peren and Tuensang, while Kohima, Phek and Tseminyu may receive thunderstorms with light rain.

On August 25, thunderstorms with light to moderate rain are likely over Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang and Zunheboto.

For the five-day period from August 21 to 25, Mokokchung has the highest cumulative rainfall probability at 102.51 mm, followed by Longleng at 100.59 mm and Mon at 93.58 mm.

NSDMA advised the public to monitor weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal and follow official advisories. Motorists have also been advised to exercise caution, particularly along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches.
