Mokokchung, 25 January (MTNews): Nagaland celebrated the 14th National Voters Day today, with a state-level program organized by the Election department of Nagaland in collaboration with St. Joseph’s College Jakhama. Commissioner & Secretary to Chief Minister, Kesonyu Yhome, addressed students as a special guest, highlighting the challenge of knowledgeable individuals not exercising their legitimate franchise.Electoral Officer Nagaland, Vyasan R, urged students and voters not to doubt exercising their franchise, emphasizing the collaborative effort of all stakeholders in ensuring successful elections.

Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, encouraged voters to familiarize themselves with the election process and be informed voters.

Awards were given to the Best state-level BLO, District-level Best BLO, and Best Campus Ambassador. The 14th National Voters Day was also observed in various districts across Nagaland.

Meanwhile, in Mokokchung district, the 14th National Voters’ Day was celebrated at the DC Conference Hall. Thsuvisie Phoji, the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, graced the event as the Special Guest. In his address, Phoji congratulated newly enrolled voters and urged them to exercise their franchise for good governance. He emphasized the essence of democracy, stressing the importance of registering all eligible voters. Phoji encouraged women to actively participate in the election process and acknowledged the significant contribution of all Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

The event recognized three BLOs who passed away in 2023 for their contributions and awarded ten outstanding BLOs for their exemplary service. The program included presentations on the theme “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure” and “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.”

National Voters’ Day aims to encourage and maximize voter enrollment, spreading awareness and promoting informed participation in the electoral process. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by EAC Mokokchung Hq.

The National Voters Day was also observed in Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung initiated by the Department of Political Science.
