The Nagaland Basketball Association has announced the selection of the men’s team that will represent the state at the 75th Senior National Basketball Championship, scheduled to be held from January 4 to 11 in Chennai. The national championship is expected to bring together leading basketball teams and players from across the country.

According to the association, the team was selected following trials conducted on December 8 at the Don Bosco Basketball Court, Kohima. A panel of selectors comprising coaches and association officials assessed players during the trials before finalizing the squad for the national event.
The selected men’s team will be led by Thejangulie Mekro as captain, with Salew Kadete named vice-captain. Other members of the squad are Neisezo Theunuo, Benhilo Lorin, Cuwe Mero, Keneizelhou Kevin Tale, Nukshizulu Pongen, Alirenba Aier L, Sharman Lama, Reo Mero, Kezevituo Suokhrie, and Shanchothung Jungio. The team will be coached by Seyievizo Kire, while Neichutuo Rutsa has been appointed as team manager.
The Nagaland Basketball Association congratulated the selected players and stated that the team will now begin training and preparations in Kohima under the supervision of the coach and NBA officials. The squad is scheduled to depart for Chennai on December 30, 2025.
The association noted that the Senior National Basketball Championship is one of the major events in the Indian basketball calendar and provides players with an opportunity to compete against top talent from other states. The NBA also acknowledged the support of the Principal of Don Bosco, Kohima, for providing the venue for the selection trials and appreciated the efforts of all players who participated in the selection process.
The association expressed confidence that the team would represent Nagaland with commitment and discipline at the forthcoming championship.
