The Mokokchung district administration has issued a public advisory urging residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of continuous heavy rainfall that has caused flooding in parts of Tuli Sub-Division and triggered landslides at multiple locations across the district.

Floodwaters inundate the premises of the Community Health Centre in Tuli following continuous heavy rainfall that has caused flooding in parts of Mokokchung district. The district administration has urged residents to remain alert, avoid flooded and landslide-prone areas, and follow official advisories.

In the advisory issued on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner A. Jit Kumar Verma, IAS, said flooding and localised landslides have been reported in low-lying areas, affecting roads, public infrastructure and normal movement.

The administration advised the public to avoid entering flooded areas, overflowing drains, streams and riverbanks, and to refrain from unnecessary travel, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. Residents have also been asked to stay away from landslide-prone slopes and unstable embankments.

The advisory urged people to closely monitor weather updates and follow instructions issued by the district administration and other authorities. It also stressed ensuring the safety of children, elderly persons and persons with disabilities during the adverse weather conditions.

Residents have been requested to report emergencies, flooding, landslides or persons in distress to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Mokokchung, at 6009479721, or contact the nearest administrative office, police station or emergency response team.

“The District Administration is closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary measures,” the advisory stated, while appealing to citizens to remain calm, cooperate with authorities and avoid spreading unverified information or rumours.

The advisory was issued in the interest of public safety.
