Replying to an unstarred question raised by Nagaland’s Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Tokheho Yepthomi, the union minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala said that the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has accorded approvals to the fisheries development proposals of Government of Nagaland at a total outlay of Rs. 43.36 crore with central liability of Rs. 36.20 crore under the erstwhile Centrally Sponsored Scheme- Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries implemented during the period from 2015-16 to 2019-20.
Besides, the union minister also said that under the ongoing Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), fisheries developmental proposals of Government of Nagaland at total cost of Rs. 68.31 crore with central share of Rs. 38.25 crore have also been approved during last two years (2020-21 and 2021-22) and current financial year (2022-23).
Rupala also said that the central share of Rs.53.17 crore has been released to the Government of Nagaland for development of fisheries in the State under the above mentioned two schemes during the period 2018-19 to 2022-23 (till date). The Government of Nagaland has reported utilisation of central funds of Rs.44.97 crore and the balance central funds of Rs.8.20 crore is utilised for implementation of the approved projects during 2022-23.
In the unstarred question, the Nagaland MP had asked the total amount of funds that have been released to the State of Nagaland for the schemes pertaining to Fisheries from 2018 to 2022; whether all the funds have been utilised fully, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and the time by which all the schemes of the Ministry are likely to be implemented.
