Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Nagaland, has formally requested the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (alias Lalan Singh), to upgrade the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Jalukie. The MP’s request includes the introduction of postgraduate and PhD programs, as well as the enhancement of the college’s infrastructure.

In a letter addressed to the Union Minister, MP Jamir highlighted the significance of the college to the North Eastern region, particularly Nagaland. He noted that, traditionally, domestic animal rearing has been integral to the local culture and economy. With societal advancements, however, the role of domestic animals has evolved into a significant income source.

Jamir’s letter outlined laboratory facilities for students for higher studies; faculty members from various discipline for research and teaching and supporting staff; and infrastructure facilities for various discipline.

The MP urged the Union Minister to consider these requests as a special case, emphasizing the positive impact such upgrades would have on both the college and the broader region.
