The Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland, and Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, will organise a State-Level Consultative Workshop on the AIM 2.0 Frontier Region Programme on 16 September 2026 at De Oriental, Kohima.

Lend A Hand India is supporting the consultation as the programme implementation partner.

The Frontier Region Programme aims to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship in border, remote and aspirational regions of the country. Nationally, the programme proposes the establishment of 2,500 new Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs).

For Nagaland, 93 Atal Tinkering Labs and two Atal Incubation Centres have been proposed under the programme.

Nagaland is currently at the consultation stage. The workshop will gather inputs to help develop an approach suited to the State’s geography, schools and local opportunities before programme guidelines, applications and further implementation decisions are taken forward.

The consultation will bring together representatives from government departments, schools, higher education and technical institutions, industry, start-ups and civil society organisations.

Discussions will focus on infrastructure and suitable access models for new ATLs, locally relevant areas of innovation, teacher preparation and continued support, and building a wider network of mentors and partner institutions.

Existing ATL schools will share their implementation experiences, while schools without ATLs will highlight issues related to access and readiness.

Student exhibits at the venue will also provide a glimpse of practical and innovative work already being undertaken in Nagaland’s schools.

The consultation is expected to help identify the State’s priorities, practical constraints and opportunities for partnership. The larger aim is to ensure that innovation facilities lead to regular student participation, support for teachers and projects connected to the needs of local communities.

Senior officials of the Government of Nagaland and representatives of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, will address the workshop.
