10 athletes selected to represent Mokokchung District
Mokokchung, August 5 (MTNews) : An open trial for athletes to represent the District at the forthcoming Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022 to be held from 22nd to 27th August 2022, was conducted by Mokokchung Athletics at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Friday.
Rongsentoshi Jamir, President of Mokokchung Athletics stated that out of approximately 50 candidates who participated in the open trial, ten athletes were chosen to represent the district in 12 different disciplines: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10000m, Shot-put, Javelin, Long jump, Triple jump, and 4 X 100m.
Jamir also stated that the selected candidates will be given a crash course in their respective field till the commencement of the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022. He further went on to extend appreciation towards the District Education Officer for permitting 10 Physical Education Teachers to take part in training the athletes.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has named the officials to lead the Mokokchung District Teamto the Nagaland Olympics and Paralympic Games 2022 scheduled to be held from August 22-27.
Team Mokokchung will be led by Subash Arambam, Assistant Director, Printing and Stationery, as Chef de Mission with Rongsentoshi Jamir, President, Mokokchung Athletics as Deputy Chef de Mission, and Alemyanger, Technical Director, Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association as District Team Manager.
