A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Apollo Children’s Hospital (ACH), Chennai, and the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) under the National Health Mission (NHM), Nagaland, on July 24, 2025, at the office chamber of the Mission Director, NHM.

Nagaland partners with Apollo Hospital for free heart treatment in children

The MoU was signed for the screening and treatment of congenital heart diseases in children aged 0 to 18 years. As per the MoU, NHM will organize screening camps in collaboration with Apollo Children’s Hospital in Nagaland. Children requiring further treatment will be referred to Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai. Expenses will be covered by NHM as per the RBSK model costing, while any excess expenditure beyond RBSK norms will be borne by the Apollo Hospital Charitable Trust.

ACH will also provide free accommodation for one attendant per patient during the child’s treatment at the hospital. Additionally, the hospital will provide training to government doctors in pediatric cardiac surgery and interventions, as well as train support staff—both of which are included in the MoU.

During the interaction, the Mission Director expressed her appreciation to ACH for their initiative and hoped that the collaboration would benefit the people of Nagaland by improving access to specialized medical care and support services.

Niranjani S, Unit Head of Apollo Children’s and Women’s Hospital, also shared the hospital’s positive experiences working in Meghalaya, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh. She mentioned that the hospital will introduce teleconsultation services in Nagaland and create employment opportunities for nurses from the state in the coming years.

The MoU was signed by Dr Avile Zao, Mission Director, NHM, Nagaland, and Niranjani S for Apollo Children’s Hospital. She was accompanied by D Rajkumar, Senior Manager, Health Care Services, Apollo Children’s Hospital. The signing took place in the presence of Dr Keveduyi Theyo, State Program Officer (NHM), and other officers from NHM.

NHM has also signed MoUs with SKY Hospital and SHIJA Hospitals & Research Institute, Imphal, Manipur in 2018, and with Health City Hospital, Guwahati, Assam in 2025. These partnerships have been instrumental in rendering services in heart screening and treatment since their inception.

  1. I was already thinking of quitting online games after a streak of painful losses, but on a total whim, I tried a new platform I’d seen mentioned in a Telegram group. The first game I played was Dragon Tiger—quick and brutal. Somehow, I hit a run of wins and recovered everything I lost last week. It felt like a turning point. In case you’re wondering where. Since then, I’ve started playing a bit more responsibly and it’s actually fun again.
